In every child I see my God.
And in every sick child, I see a nation waiting to be healed.

The Origin of a Mission

Where Compassion Became a Lifelong Calling

The story of Dr. N.K. Mittal's mission does not begin in a lecture hall or a conference room. It begins in the slums of Jahangirpuri, Seelampur, and Nand Nagri, the forgotten corners of Delhi — where, as a young medical resident at Rajan Babu TB Hospital in 1986, he first witnessed children silently suffocating under the weight of tuberculosis that no one was diagnosing, no one was treating, and no one was counting.

He was not assigned to go there. He chose to go in his own time, on his own feet, driven by a conscience that refused to look away.

That decision, made nearly four decades ago, became the seed of a lifelong mission.

From those Delhi slums to the villages of Sonipat, from a modest nursing home in Model Town to the national stage of Indian pediatrics, every step of Dr. Mittal's journey has been animated by a single, unwavering belief:

No child should suffer or die from a disease that is both preventable and curable.

Mission Statement

🎯 Our Mission

“If we nurture our children today, we nurture our nation's destiny.”

— Dr. N.K. Mittal

The mission of Dr. N.K. Mittal and Mittal Nursing Home is rooted in five foundational pillars:

TB Elimination in Children

Making childhood tuberculosis visible, diagnosable, and curable, for every child, regardless of economic background.

Pediatric TB is the most under-diagnosed, under-reported, and under-treated form of tuberculosis. Dr. Mittal has spent 35+ years diagnosing over 2,000 pediatric TB patients, offering free OPD services, and driving TB-free village initiatives.

TB Mukt Bachpan. Swasth Bharat.

Universal Immunization

Ensuring every newborn receives life-saving vaccines as a matter of right, not privilege.

Dr. Mittal has supervised more than 3 lakh vaccines including 30,000+ BCG vaccinations and conducted free immunization camps continuously for 35 years.

Vaccination is a child's birthright.

Neonatal Care & Innovation

Giving every newborn — especially the most fragile — a fighting chance at life.

Dr. Mittal established Sonipat’s first SNCU and Haryana’s first private NICU with neonatal ventilation, while pioneering Kangaroo Mother Care initiatives.

Every newborn's first breath is sacred.

Equity in Healthcare

Ensuring poverty never becomes a barrier to quality healthcare for children.

Free TB treatment, consultations, immunization camps, and nutritional support are part of Dr. Mittal’s lifelong commitment to service.

Medicine is a service, not a business.

Education, Mentorship & Advocacy

Building future doctors committed to public health and pediatric care.

Through WHO, UNICEF, IAP, and national CMEs, Dr. Mittal has consistently advocated for child health policy and medical education across India.

A doctor’s responsibility extends beyond the clinic.
Vision Statement

🔭 Our Vision

“Healing Young Hearts, Building India's Future.”

The vision of Dr. N.K. Mittal extends beyond the individual child and the individual clinic. It is a vision for the nation.

By 2030, Dr. Mittal envisions:

A TB-Free Childhood for India

Where no child in Sonipat, Haryana, or India dies of tuberculosis because it was not found, not treated, or not prevented.

Universal BCG Coverage

Ensuring every newborn in every village receives BCG vaccination on the day of birth, without exception and without cost.

20 TB-Free Gram Panchayats

Building on the successful model established in Shekhpura and Purkhas through screening, treatment, and awareness.

10,000 Nikshay Mitra Adoptions

Providing nutritional, emotional, and medical support to TB patients so no family abandons treatment due to hardship.

National Pediatric TB Network

Uniting pediatricians, NGOs, government programs, and communities across India to eliminate childhood tuberculosis together.

Better Vaccines & Shorter Treatments

Advancing research toward more effective vaccines and shorter, child-friendly TB treatment regimens.

TB Awareness in School Curricula

Empowering the next generation to recognize symptoms, eliminate stigma, and actively support India’s TB elimination mission.

A Personal Word From Dr. Mittal

A Journey Rooted in Compassion, Service & Purpose

“I was born in a small dark room in village Purkhas, with mud walls, limited means, and a mother whose faith in me was stronger than any obstacle life could place in my way. She was illiterate, but she dreamed fearlessly. Her dream made me a doctor.

I became a doctor not to build wealth, but to repay a debt, to her, to my village, to every child who is born into circumstances they did not choose. Every child I have treated, every TB patient I have diagnosed, every newborn I have helped breathe, each one is a prayer answered, a promise kept.

India eliminated polio with passion and purpose. We can eliminate tuberculosis with the same spirit. We can protect our children, not just with medicines, but with compassion, commitment, and the quiet conviction that every life matters.

“My mission is not finished. As long as a child somewhere in this country is suffering from a disease I can help prevent, my work continues.”

Come, join this mission. TB Mukt Bharat is not a government slogan, it is our collective responsibility.”
